  12. I have Maxtor's 245-megabyte hard disk (model MAXTOR-7245,
  13. rev. 1560). I used it in my Amiga 3000 until Amiga's power 
  14. supply broke.

  16. The problem: Amiga does not recognize disk as a valid rigid
  17. disk block device. I had a possibility to test it in other Amiga,
  18. but the system saw it as an unformatted disk. We tried to run 
  19. program named "RDTools" or something like that, but the program 
  20. hung up. AmigaDOS's HDToolbox said that the device is unknown type.

  22. So, is there any way to restore information from that kind of disk?

  24. Or is this a hardware specific problem? It was an overvoltage
  25. that destroyed my power supply (regulators were almost melted), but
  26. when my Amiga was tested with an undamaged power supply, everything
  27. worked normally (that damned Maxtor's disk was not connected then).
  28. The disk operates quite normal: it spins when the power is turned on,
  29. and the SCSI controller recognizes its ID and model. But maybe it is
  30. possible that drive's circuit board has some problems...?

  32. As far as I remember, at the moment when the power supply exploded
  33. there were no disk activity. It is quite unbelievable that the 
  34. overvoltage would destroy just the few blocks where disk information
  35. is kept...

  37. Any information or help is very important, because I have megabytes
  38. of unbackuped files on this disk...
